A Karaganda insurer with a history dating back to 1991
ASKO: more than 30 years of insurance protection for people and business
ASKO Insurance Company JSC is a universal general insurance company whose history dates back to December 1991 and which operates in all cities of regional and national significance in Kazakhstan. The company started in Karaganda and has grown from a regional partnership into a joint-stock company with insurance and reinsurance licences. Today it offers motor insurance, protection of property, health and travel, and a wide range of compulsory liability insurance classes for businesses.
History in key dates
The company was registered on 17 December 1991 in Karaganda as the partnership “Karaganda-ASKO-LTD Insurance Company”. In 1995, after licensing of insurers was introduced, it received its first insurance licence from the Insurance Department of the Ministry of Finance. In 1998 active development of the branch network began: the Kostanay, Akmola, Pavlodar and Almaty branches were opened. These were followed by partnerships with foreign insurers and reinsurers, the first share issue in 2000 and the implementation of an ISO 9001 quality management system in 2005 — according to the company, the first in the insurance market.
In 2007 ASKO rolled out an agency network across the republic, making it possible to conclude contracts and settle claims in regional and district centres. In 2014 the company launched online sales, in 2017 it obtained a reinsurance licence, in 2019 a licence for professional liability insurance, and in 2020 it joined the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan. For its 30th anniversary in 2021 the company rebranded; in 2022 the “CASCO from ASKO” programme with an individual choice of risks and options appeared, and in 2023 the “HAPPY TRAVEL” medical insurance programme for tourists was introduced.

Service and online options
On the company’s website you can buy a policy, check an existing contract by its unique number and through the Unified Insurance Database, download an electronic policy, and use the personal account and the vehicle depreciation calculator. Drivers can use online claim settlement and register a road accident under the europrotocol via the mobile app, and in the event of a dispute a complaint can be filed with the insurance ombudsman. A 24-hour call centre and an accident commissioner service help you quickly deal with the paperwork after an incident.
How to report an insured event
Report the event
Call ASKO’s 24-hour call centre or write on WhatsApp; there is a separate short number for road accidents. If necessary, an accident commissioner will come to the scene.
Register the incident
If no one was injured in the accident, both drivers have valid OGPO policies and there is no disagreement, a europrotocol can be drawn up in the mobile app: enter the place and time, the drivers’ and vehicles’ details, take photos from all four sides and mark the damage. In other cases, call the police.
Hand over the documents
The claim is submitted online or at the nearest regional unit. When the incident is registered under the europrotocol, the injured party is exempt from collecting the standard set of documents.
Receive the payout
After the damage has been assessed and approved, the insurer transfers the compensation; under the europrotocol, according to the company, payouts arrive within 6 days on average.
Important: an insurance contract can be terminated early by submitting an application to a regional unit of the company; part of the premium is refunded in proportion to the unexpired term, less expenses, within five working days.
