Halyk Insurance: 30 years of history and investment-grade ratings
Halyk Insurance Company JSC (Halyk Insurance) is a subsidiary of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan operating in the general insurance sector. Many customers know the company by its former name, Kazakhinstrakh. Today it is an insurer with investment-grade international ratings, a broad retail product line and online services that let you buy, renew and amend a policy in a few minutes.
Development path
The company was founded in 1995. As early as 2004, the common shares of Kazakhinstrakh JSC were included in category "A" of the stock exchange's official list, which signified recognition of a high capacity to meet financial obligations. In 2005, the company received the "For High Quality in Business Practice" medal at the 7th International Forum "High Quality in Business" in Geneva. In the same year, the life insurance company Halyk Life JSC was established, initially wholly owned by Kazakhinstrakh.
Over time, the insurer joined the Halyk Bank financial group and changed its name to Halyk Insurance Company JSC. Belonging to Kazakhstan's largest banking group gives the company access to the bank's extensive customer base and digital infrastructure, and gives customers additional confidence in its stability.

Three international ratings
Halyk Insurance is one of the few insurers in Kazakhstan rated by three international agencies at once. On 26 November 2025, Fitch Ratings upgraded the company's financial strength rating to "BBB", which is investment grade, and assigned a national rating of "AAA(kaz)", the highest on the Kazakhstan scale. On 8 December 2025, Moody's assigned the company a Baa2 insurance financial strength rating in foreign and local currency. In April 2025, AM Best affirmed, and on 16 April 2026 updated, its "B++" financial strength rating and "bbb" long-term issuer credit rating. The outlooks on all ratings are stable.
For a policyholder, this means that independent analysts rate highly the company's capital, asset quality and ability to meet its claims obligations even in the event of large losses.

Most Halyk Insurance transactions are available on the website and in the personal account:
- policy activation and online payment for insurance;
- downloading, renewing and amending an existing contract; a policy can be renewed in about two minutes;
- checking a policy in the Unified Insurance Database and checking whether a contract is active;
- a vehicle depreciation calculator;
- a referral programme and the opportunity to become a company agent.
The company's website provides documents, information about its management, contacts and bank details, as well as information about its membership of associations, unions and insurance pools.

What to do when an insured event occurs
Ensure safety
In the event of a road accident or an incident involving property, take steps to minimise the damage and, if necessary, call the emergency services.
Notify the insurer
Report the event to the Halyk Insurance contact centre within the time limits specified in the contract and get advice on the list of documents required.
Submit a claim
Submit the claim form and documents confirming the event and the amount of the loss; for property and vehicles, the company arranges an inspection.
Receive the decision and payment
After reviewing the documents, the company makes a decision and transfers the compensation within the established time limit.
